JWU Alum Excels in "Hell's Kitchen"

After months of hard work and tense competition Rahman “Rock” Harper, ‘96, was crowned the champion of the hit reality show “Hell’s Kitchen 3.” The third season of the critically acclaimed show aired on the FOX television network on June 4th and concluded on August 13th. The program featured eleven chefs competing head-to-head for the grand prize of becoming the new head chef at the Green Valley Ranch Resort’s Terra Verde in Las Vegas.

Nearly 10 million eager fans tuned in to watch the exciting conclusion of the three-month-long culinary war. In the end it was the determination and keen culinary understanding that helped the JWU graduate outlast the 26-year-old nanny and personal chef from California.

The 30-year-old Virginian native brings more than a decade of culinary knowledge to his new position as head chef. His previous employers have included B. Smith’s Restaurant in Washington D.C., Planet Hollywood, BET on Jazz Restaurant and Embassy Suites. With the love and encouragement of his family, Rock is anxious to begin the new challenge and take hold of the $250,000 annual salary.
