JWU’s Ciril Hitz Named One of Ten Best Pastry Chefs in America

Chef Ciril Hitz, Department Chair of JWU's International Baking & Pastry Institute, has been named as one of the top ten pastry chefs in America by Pastry Art & Design magazine. The chefs were chosen for the 2007 award based on their excellence in the field of pastry arts.

“These chefs are truly at the top of their field,” said Jeff Dryfoos, publisher of Pastry Art & Design. “Our publication is dedicated to highlighting the top talent in the pastry arts and we’re so pleased to be recognizing ten true standouts once again.”

Hitz, whose work will be showcased in the August issue of Pastry Art & Design magazine along with the other nine recipients, studied his craft in both Switzerland and France and held several positions within the pastry industry before joining the faculty of Johnson & Wales in 1997. Chef Hitz is world-renowned for pioneering the use of vivid natural colors in bread sculpture. Read more about Chef Hitz and his many achievements.
