All JWU Graduates To Receive ACF First Level Certification

The American Culinary Federation (ACF), the premier professional organization for culinarians in America, and Johnson & Wales University, have established a certification and membership program for associate degree graduates from JWU's College of Culinary Arts.

The program, sponsored by Tyson Foods, grants ACF membership and the certified culinarian (CC) or certified pastry culinarian (CPC) to all AS degree graduates -- a distinction normally reserved for industry professionals who must pay a fee and pass a test.

"We are both honored and proud to enter into this membership collaboration with the ACF," says Karl Guggenmos, university dean of culinary education at JWU. "This unprecedented certification program is a real testament to the quality of culinary education at Johnson & Wales, and provides an advantage to our graduating students who are entering the industry."

Students will receive a medal upon graduation with both the ACF's and J&W's logos. As ACF members, students will receive monthly editions of The National Culinary Review; a personalized membership card; unlimited access to the ACF website, e-publications and career center; and discounts to attend ACF regional conferences and national convention.
