Kurt Boucher '96Aspen chef Kurt Boucher will be a challenger on the Food Network's hit show, "Iron Chef America," season 4. The show is scheduled to air at the beginning of 2007.
Boucher is the former longtime executive chef at the Pine Creek Cookhouse and owner/chef of the soon-to-open Flowered Chives restaurant. He began his culinary career at the age of 13 working in a mom-and-pop diner in his hometown of Woonsocket, R.I. Boucher continued to work in restaurants in the Woonsocket area until he finished high school, and then moved to Aspen in 1989 with his family. Boucher started working at the Cookhouse as a delivery person but soon gained the opportunity to be a line chef. It was during this time that he decided to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Kurt completed his culinary training at the J&W Providence campus. After graduating from J&W, he returned to the Cookhouse in 1996 as sous chef. The following season he was promoted to chef de cuisine and later that same year was made executive chef. Boucher utilizes the freshest ingredients that the valleys of Colorado have to offer. His menus showcase wild game and fresh seafood with modern French and Asian flare that constitute what Kurt has termed "mountain gourmet" cuisine. He has been featured in numerous culinary magazines and in nationally syndicated television shows. Watch for Boucher as he takes on one of the most talented chefs in the industry — Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Cat Cora or Masaharu Morimoto. |
