Michelin Star Chef Visits North Miami CampusThe North Miami Campus honored two Michelin Star German Master Chef Franz Fuchs as a Distinguished Visiting Chef. Chef Fuchs shared his expertise with more than 100 J&W culinary arts students during his classroom demonstrations on October 18-20, 2006. Not only did the demonstrations provide and expand learning opportunities for the students, they gave them an idea about how much work it takes to become a successful chef.
Chef Fuchs, considered one of the most popular chefs in Europe, is the executive chef and quality control manager for one of Germany’s prime catering companies. Named one of the youngest master chefs in Bavaria, Chef Fuchs has received two Michelin Stars. Michelin Stars are only given by the toughest and most prominent restaurant critics, with only one out of 100 chefs earning the distinction. After Chef Fuchs finished his demonstrations, he worked along side J&W students to prepare a four-course public dinner for 50 guests. After the meal, culinary arts student Gabriel Lima was awarded a $2,000 Distinguished Visiting Chef Scholarship to continue his education at the university. |
