- Chef’s Choice: People from surrounding communities come to J&W to expand their culinary and pastry knowledge by taking our three hour courses.
- Open House: Volunteers help to assist chefs with setting up demonstrations for prospective students and their families who tour the culinary campus of J&W.
- San Pellegrino Competition: students selected by school administrators from the Johnson & Wales University's College of Culinary Arts will be judged on culinary skill, creativity, presentation, personality and ability to perform under pressure. Along the way, celebrity chefs and food journalists will offer guidance and tips on how to become a culinary star. Winners of each regional contest will be flown to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, where they will participate in three competition categories: a “mystery ingredient” basket contest, in which contestants have two hours to prepare a dish created from previously unknown ingredients; a signature dish contest, offering contestants an opportunity to showcase regional flavors and traditions; and a people's choice contest, in which competition attendees vote on their favorite dishes.
