Culinary Nutritionbachelor's degree*
The culinary nutrition program at J&W is a bachelor's degree option for students who have completed an associate degree program in either culinary arts or baking & pastry arts. Our culinary nutrition program is the first of its kind to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association. In answer to industry and consumer demand for more healthy-menu choices, this program is designed for students who want to apply nutrition principles and scientific knowledge to their culinary skills. You’ll continue to develop sensory evaluation techniques, develop innovative food products and nutritional diagnostic skills. You may even qualify for a term abroad co-op experience in such countries as Singapore and Germany. You’ll enter the work world with a competitive edge in the fields of nutrition and food product development. when you graduateYou’ll be positioned with connections to major industry test kitchens, health care facilities, cruise ships, spas, resorts and the personal chef industry, where an emphasis on nutrition is fundamental. One may enroll in the Providence or Denver program at the beginning of any term. Providence: Suzanne Vieira (svieira@jwu.edu) Denver: Marleen Swanson (mswanson@jwu.edu) Tuition and fees - including room & board, books and uniforms - are the same as other J&W culinary programs. Liability insurance is covered by the university. Medical exams are included in students' freshman year expenses. As entering juniors and seniors, this expense will not be incurred.
