Tyson Nutrition Kitchen Dedicated at Florida Campus

Tyson Foods, Inc. recently worked with the Florida Campus to upgrade one of its hot foods kitchen into the Tyson Nutrition Kitchen. The lab’s smallwares and equipment were upgraded and a 27-inch flat screen television and demonstration camera was added to help instructors and students.

The Tyson Nutrition Kitchen, which is primarily used for J&W’s Nutrition & Sensory Analysis course, was dedicated at a reception held February 25, 2006, with Donald G. McGregor, Florida Campus president; Uta Schepers, corporate chef for Tyson; and Bruce Ozga, dean of culinary education.

In January 2004, Tyson Foods, Inc. entered into a five-year partnership with Johnson & Wales University called “Tyson Commitment to Education for Generations.” The alliance includes scholarship programs, classroom support, student co-op positions, campus presence, faculty-in-residence programs, industry involvement, alumni relations, and other student support. This lab upgrade is just one component of that partnership.
