Students Cook for the Stars at SundanceAt the Sundance Film Festival, not all of the stars appear on the screen or behind the camera — some are in the kitchen. Chef Dance, an invitation-only series of luxury four-course dinners for luminaries of the industry featured a different celebrity guest chef each night, assisted by eight Johnson & Wales students.
In an open air kitchen visible by all attending guests (which this year included Jennifer Anniston, Sting, Paul Giamotti, Paris Hilton and the Counting Crows), the J&W students found themselves cooking in the spotlight. J&W grad and Food Network personality Tyler Florence served as Chef Dance host, with different guest chefs each night including Ming Tsai, Todd English, and Gale Gand. Two students from each campus participated in what they described as a culinary experience and career opportunity of a lifetime: About the Chef Dance experience Stacy Wyly said: "Chef Dance was an experience of a lifetime it was filled with many challenges and many rewards that I'll continue to reap for years to come. After working with some of the best chefs in the country, I know that it takes passion to do what they do every day. I realize that I learned more in those twelve days than I had ever imagined possible." |
