Real Work ExperienceCo-op | Internship As part of J&W's unique Career Management System, every culinary student gets a career-building, real-life work experience through an internship or co-op as part of the degree program. We offer the broadest and best opportunities that can take you around the globe. When you graduate, you'll have a resumé with experience at some of the most respected companies in the 'world of food'. Work experience options include: co-op Or, if you qualify, you could work at the some of the most famous places in the world by participating in a selective career cooperative (co-op) education assignment — and receive pay in addition to academic credit. Co-op employers include hotels, restaurants, country clubs, resorts, spas, contract food service providers and casinos — you could even take an international co-op. A sampling of recent co-op placements for culinary students include the French Laundry, Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island, The Breakers Palm Beach, Charlie Trotters, The Mansion at Turtle Creek, John & Celeste, Per Se, Grand Geneva Resort, Marriott Marco Island, Italy's Le Tre Fonti, France's Chateau du Montriel, and Ireland's Sheen Falls Lodge, among dozens of others. Our baking & pastry students have worked with the biggest names in the industry including Norman Love Confections, Garrison Confections, Walt Disney World, Grove Park Inn, The Greenbriar Resort, the Biltmore Estate, Loews Miami Beach, the Mandarin Oriental, Cape Cod's Chatham Bars Inn, and England's Waterside Inn, The Celtic Manor, and Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, to name just a few. Top internship During your internship at University-owned or affiliated hotels and restaurants (or pastry facilities for baking & pastry arts students), you’ll gain meaningful work experience in actual commercial establishments while also receiving credit.
